The Bryn Aber community in Abertridwr came together for six weeks of summer fun thanks to an activity programme hosted by United Welsh in partnership with NoFit State.<\/span><\/h3>\n

In addition to weekly circus and parkour workshops, there were also themed weeks to inspire families across the estate to get creative and learn about the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tenants were joined by not-for-profit community group Green City Events for \u2018Grow it Greener\u2019 week to explore the nature around Bryn Aber.<\/span><\/p>\n

As well as spreading seed bombs and planting bulbs for flowers to blossom next spring, the group also enjoyed arts and crafts by upcycling household waste items.<\/span><\/p>\n

At \u2018Brighten the Bricks\u2019 week, dozens of people from across the estate worked with local graffiti artist Amelia from MilliMagic to design and paint two murals, with the artwork inspired by feedback from the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sam Ward, a United Welsh tenant from Bryn Aber said: \u201cThe children were so proud of the finished designs. It was wonderful to see neighbours working together to achieve something for where we live. All of the summer activities really brought up the community spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The activity programme finished with a street party attended by over 100 residents, who were treated to a special circus performance by circus performer Truan Jay Mathias of NoFit State, bike fixing with Cycle Training Wales, free lunches and art workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n

United Welsh also hosted a competition for children to draw their \u2018House of the Future\u2019 for the chance to win a doodling robot as part of a new Digital Transformation project.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Clare Bradwick, Community Investment Co-ordinator for United Welsh said: \u201cAs well as being an opportunity for families to try some fun activities they have never tried before, we gained some valuable feedback in terms of how we can continue to work with tenants to make Bryn Aber an even better place to live.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the Arts Council of Wales, the Big Lottery Fund and Arts & Business Cymru for supporting the project.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kate Perry, Community Programme Manager for NoFit State said: \u201cWe have had a fantastic summer spending time with the kids at Bryn Aber and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching them circus skills and encouraging them to get active. They have all worked so hard and we were so pleased to see how far they had come by the end of the holidays.
