The temporary increase of \u00a320 a week will be\u00a0stopping from October.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In April 2020, at\u00a0the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, a\u00a0Universal Credit\u00a0temporary increase\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a320 per week was brought in\u00a0by the Government. This\u00a0increased the standard allowance of Universal Credit\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a386.67 every month.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re\u00a0currently\u00a0claiming Universal Credit, you should be aware that this amount\u00a0<strong>is temporary<\/strong>\u00a0and was brought in as extra support during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This additional amount is due to end in October, and\u00a0the amount of Universal Credit you receive will be reduced by \u00a386.67 per month.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nearly 2,000 United Welsh tenants receive Universal Credit and many of you may not have realised that this increase was temporary. If you are someone who has only claimed Universal Credit for the first time since April 2020, you may not even have been aware that the money you receive contains the temporary increase. The Trussell Trust have launched an online form which people can use to e-mail their local MP and ask them to call on the prime minister not to make the cut.
