Cwm Ifor site progress

Overview

The Cwm Ifor scheme is being built on the site of the former Cwm Ifor Primary School, close to local amenities.

All the new homes will be built to Passivhaus standard; an advanced low energy construction standard. By using high-performance insulation and making a building completely draught free, it effectively eliminates heat loss to create a building with very low environmental impact.

There will be 12 one-bedroom apartments, 4 two-bedroom homes and 3 three-bedroom houses.

Eight trainees gained apprenticeships with our asset management service Celtic Horizons to work on the site, including United Welsh tenants and ex-military personnel.

During their apprenticeships, the trainees learnt about modern methods of construction such as carpentry skills for building timber frame homes; new skills that they can use in future.

The Cwm Ifor development has benefited from funding from the Welsh Government Innovative Housing Fund and is due to complete later this year.
