Welsh Government is offering a Pupil Development Grant where families can receive £125 to buy school uniform, equipment, sports kit and kit for activities outside of school for your child.

The scheme is to support families that need it most: learners eligible for free school meals and looked-after children.

In 2019 the funding available was doubled to £5m. It replaces and extends the old school uniform grant and this year, the eligible year groups have also been extended.

Now, learners going into Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 10 are included, with funding for looked-after children available in every school year.

The amount available for eligible Year 7 learners has increased from £125 to £200, recognising the increased costs associated with starting secondary school.

The fund will cover school uniform and sports kit, equipment for out of school hours trips, including outdoor learning, and equipment for activities within the curriculum, such as design and technology.
