United Welsh has worked in partnership with Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports and Play team to deliver open access sports and play sessions to children in the Caerleon Road area this summer.

Sessions ran three times a week over a four-week period with up to 30 children a day benefiting from the Play Rangers scheme, enjoying sports, den building, imaginative play and more.

Many of these children were identified as at risk of being severely affected by the impact of lockdown, but the activities helped to bring some sunshine in the summer months.

The feedback from the families involved was very positive too:

  • “The play rangers have been a god send and amazing with the children. Really friendly”
  • “Children getting to know other children in the street and getting to know new people”
  • “Brings the community together”
  • “Meet new friends and grow in confidence”
  • “Watching them enjoy themselves after such a difficult time (Covid)”
  • “Play rangers are amazing”
  • “Keep doing an awesome job, you’re all amazing”

We were pleased to be able to fund this year’s activities and would like to thank everyone who got involved. We hope you are enjoying your first days back at school!
